What to write down
- Your name.
- The date of the activity.
- The CPD provider details.
- A description of the activity.
- The number of hours earned.
Facts and sources for this part
- If you keep your own CPD records, the MFAA says to include your name, the date of the activity, the CPD provider details, a description of the activity and the number of hours earned. [S1]
What to keep
Records only help if you can find them later. Use one folder, name files by date and activity, and add each entry when you finish, not at renewal. If your licensee asks what training you have done, you can answer in a minute.
The MFAA suggests copies of certificates, receipts, confirmation emails or calendar entries as proof. At renewal MFAA members attest to completing their hours, and licensees have a continual obligation to monitor and supervise their representatives.
Facts and sources for this part
- The MFAA suggests keeping copies of certificates, receipts, confirmation emails or calendar entries as proof of your CPD. [S1]
- MFAA members must complete 30 CPD hours each membership renewal year, and at renewal they attest that they have. [S1]
- Licensees have a continual obligation to monitor and supervise their representatives so that they stay adequately trained and competent. [S4]
Who may ask to see them
MFAA members may be asked to show evidence of the CPD they attested to. Credit licensees must keep monitoring and supervising their representatives. Treat your record as something a third person will read cold, and write each description so it makes sense without you in the room.
Using this course
The certificate has a ready entry you can edit, with how the hours were counted and the time the course took. You decide whether the course is relevant to your role, and your licensee may have a view too.
Facts and sources for this part
- The MFAA says CPD must be relevant to the mortgage and finance industry, your role and your career goals. Webinars, workshops and online courses are listed among the activities that qualify. [S1]
